Heeley City Farm is looking for two Outdoor Skills Tutors!

£12.86p/h | £25,077 pro rata; with an uplift in March 2026
15 hours per week | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Thu & Fri
6-month fixed term from Jan 8th, 2026

A fantastic opportunity for two passionate and experienced tutors to lead hands-on adult learning courses; sharing vital green skills in horticulture and conservation, supporting diverse learners, and thriving in the unique, practical outdoor setting of our community farm.

Heeley City Farm is a community charity based in the heart of Sheffield, working within a mini working farm to provide support, education, and training to a range of people from all backgrounds and abilities. We are an equal opportunities employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive culture and welcome applications from all minority groups.

We have been awarded a contract with FACES to deliver two adult learning courses from January to June 2026. We are seeking two enthusiastic and experienced practitioners to plan, deliver, and assess these two Level 1 courses in Land-Based Studies - one focusing on Site Maintenance and Conservation, and the other on Horticulture.

Each course will support up to 12 learners and will be delivered in an engaging, hands-on outdoor environment at the farm. Tutors will be responsible for inducting students and designing practical learning activities and assessments that develop learners’ skills in areas such as horticulture (propagation, planting, maintaining planted areas) and conservation/site maintenance (fencing, path construction, woodland management, and building planters).

We are looking for individuals with relevant sector knowledge and proven experience in delivering group-based learning sessions. You must have strong knowledge of horticulture and/or land-based conservation practices and the ability to plan inclusive, practical, and engaging learning experiences. A positive, adaptable approach, enthusiasm for working outdoors, and a commitment to supporting a diverse range of learners with varying needs and abilities are essential.
