Adult Supported Placements

Heeley City Farm’s Adult Supported Placements create a friendly, supportive environment where adults with varying learning disabilities and support needs can explore and develop new skills, discover their strengths, and connect with others. With small groups and experienced staff who adapt activities to individual interests, ability  and needs, each placement fosters a sense of belonging, personal growth, and positive social interaction.

Animal Care & Welfare

Help feed, groom, and care for our animals, learning about proper treatment, respect for nature, and the joy of bonding with living creatures. Our animal care groups gain confidence and empowerment through working with the animals.

Arts & Crafts

Express creativity through painting, pottery, photography, collage and other art forms. This is a chance to explore talents, relax, and celebrate each person’s unique artistic spark and make a gift or two.

Drumming & Music Sessions

Find your rhythm through percussion and group music-making. Enjoy making sounds together, explore new instruments, and experience the uplifting power of music as a group.

Woodwork & DIY

Learn basic carpentry, tackle small repairs, and help maintain the farm, fixing fences, painting or making personal projects like bird boxes, animal feeders, cages and art. Gain practical skills, solve problems, and take pride in making something by hand.

Gardening & Horticulture

Get hands-on with planting, tending, and harvesting. Enjoy the rhythm of the seasons, grow fresh produce, enter our annual produce competition and gain a deeper appreciation for our natural world.

Cookery

Prepare healthy balanced and tasty meals using fresh ingredients—some grown right here on the farm. Learn kitchen basics and independence, discover new flavors, and share the satisfaction of cooking together.

Sport & Physical Activities

Stay active with gentle exercises, simple games, and movement-based activities. It’s all about feeling good, having fun, and building confidence in a supportive setting.

Site Maintenance & Outdoor Tasks

Keep the farm looking its best by lending a hand with painting, tidying, and basic upkeep. Working together on these tasks helps build teamwork and a sense of accomplishment.

“If your stuck doing one thing all the time its boring, but at the farm there is a variety - cooking, gardening, animals, woodwork etc. Variety is important to learn and try new things, having a meaningful thing to do gives you a purpose and everyone deserves a purpose”

Oliver, ASP group member
