A statement about Coronavirus COVID-19 from Heeley City Farm;

The spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is a concern for all of us and we’re taking the situation seriously.

We are keeping up to date with advice from (i) NHS England and (ii) Department of Health and Social Care which you can find on their websites: https://www.gov.uk/…/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-fo… and https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ (both very clear and informative).

The government site gives clear guidance on what to do (e.g. self-isolate) if you have returned from visiting any of the affected areas, whether you are experiencing symptoms or not. Anyone with a "new, continuous" cough or high temperature is now advised to self-isolate for seven days, as the UK government moves to the "delay" phase of its plan to tackle coronavirus.

We are putting practical measures in place in our building to help reduce the spread of the virus.

We have closed all enclosures we are able to at the Farm. As we are an open site some of the some of the areas are still open to walk around, for your daily exercise, but if you do come to the Farm please follow the giovernment and the site's guidelines;

  • Social distancing - stay 2-3 metres away from each other at all times
  • Wash your hands - wash your hands thoroughly for a minimum of 20 seconds, there are sinks around the site to do this
  • Do not come to the Farm if you are showing symptoms or feeling unwell

  • Please take advice from NHS and the Government - was your hands regularly with soap and water, cough into elbows or into a tissue.

    IF YOU ARE FEELING UNWELL PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE FARM. We are an open We have many vulnerable people who come to and use the farm who the World Health Organisation would class as "At Risk".

    Thank you,
    All at Heeley City Farm

    Sheffield Healthy Holidays

    In the Summer of 2020 we held Sheffield Healthy Holidays events at the Farm. This gave young people on free school meals a free meal whilst they weren't at school (6 week holidays) and whilst at the Farm the young people could get involved with many activities at the Farm, and other venues, that were put on by some amazing providers from across the city. Thanks to Leon Lockley for filming and editing this film and to all the providers and organisations that got involved

    As well as a visitors centre the Farm does lots in the community, some of the projects we run include the following:

  • Alternative Provisions 13-16yrs Education
  • Learning Disabilities Placements
  • Dementia Department
  • South Yorkshire Energy Centre
  • Local Food Growing
  • Sheffield Safe Places
  • School and Group Visits
  • Community Heritage Department
  • Garden Centre
  • The Farm Kitchen (our onsite cafe)
  • And don't forget to check out all the events that are coming up

    As a charity we rely on the generosity Visitors and the wider public

    We receive no core funding to help run the Farm, which is why donations are so important.

    Little purple donation boxes can be found round the site.

    If every visitor donated just £2 it would help the Farm run and continue to do the work we do.
