South Yorkshire Energy Centre is a unique not-for-profit, energy efficiency demonstration centre in Sheffield.

Our friendly staff and volunteers can give you ideas and inspiration to take practical steps - from low-cost measures, such as draught-proofing and energy saving top tips, through to solar panels and ground source heat pumps.

Help make your fuel bills more affordable
FREE assistance to find cheaper energy tariffs, practical draught-proofing actions, and access to financial help.
promoting simple day-to-day steps to save energy, gives real assistance to make homes warmer, and demonstrates insulation and green technology to reduce carbon emissions.
We have real working examples of solar hot water, solar PV (electricity), battery storage, a ground source heatpump and underfloor heating, and grey water capture systems to examine.
We have information on cycle routes in and around Sheffield; and data on electric vehicles (EV's) to help decision-making.
We have some fun activities exploring energy generation and usage, suitable for all ages. We host school visits and welcome home-schooled visitors. We have a wealth of free leaflets and information to support learning, as well as experienced and knowledgeable staff and volunteers to talk to. See the Useful Links page too, for more resources.
Supported placements offer a variety of stimulating and interesting experiences 'tailor made' to individuals interests, support needs and abilities. Individuals can choose to concentrate on one main area or 'pick and mix' between areas and activities. Individuals work in small groups supported by experienced staff; all staff have enhanced DBS checks.
Sheffield Safe Places are a network of businesses and organisations dedicated to providing temporary safe refuge and assistance for adults who find themselves in difficult situations whilst out and about. The project supports adults in Sheffield to lead independent lives by creating a network of safe places in all areas of Sheffield. Adults who join the scheme and their families’ are reassured that help is available if it is needed.
Activities can be tailored to your group or curriculum. Try gardening, chicken keeping, tours and much more!
Whether for an hour or a day, we can provide a range of activities for all ages and abilities. Visit us at the farm and get close with our animals and hands on experience of day-to-day farm life. As well as the animals, the farm has a large kitchen and ornamental garden, polytunnels, and a heritage department.
Heeley City Farm is a registered umbrella body for Criminal Records checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service. This means that we process application forms on behalf of organisations who wish to check whether their employees or volunteers who work in regulated activities with children or vulnerable adults are suitable for the post.
