All sessions are 10am till 1pm
Saturday 20th April: Preparing to keep bees/the basics
Introduction to bees, the equipment you need to keep them, health and safety and where to put your hive
Saturday 27th April: How to assemble hives and frames
Practical session learning about selection, construction and maintenance for your hive
Saturday 4th May: Hive observations/Swarm Control/Bee management
What to look for when observing your bees, what this means for your colony, and how to manage specific events in the hive
Saturday 11th May: The bee keeping year
From starting up your colony through to Winter hefting: getting through your first year successfully
Saturday 18th May: Harvesting honey
Learn to harvest honey and understand the good bee keeping practices and principles for harvesting that support a strong, healthy colony
Saturday 25th May: Feeding bees /management of pests & diseases
Good housekeeping of the hive, protection and treatment from common threats to the colony’s health

5th September 2018 - Heeley City Farm needs you! The experts have had their say and in July Heeley City Farm was given a prestigious Green Flag Award.
Now, the Award Scheme is asking the nation to have its say and decide which parks and green spaces should receive the People’s Choice Award for being the UK’s favourites.
Voting closes 30 Sept, with the top 10 sites being announced on 16 October.
