Location: Heeley City Farm

 

Purpose of job: Organise and maintain the HR function within the organisation including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, employee benefits, legislation and administration.

 

Specific tasks:

  • Develop and maintain efficient administrative processes, systems and technology

  • Manage the implementation of employment policies and keep up to date with changes in legislation

  • Ensure Staff Handbook is kept up to date with new legislation and procedures and ensure changes are communicated to all employees, ensure best practice and the company's values are adhered to 

  • Responsibility for onboarding process, ensure right to work documents are obtained and stored according to GDPR 

  • Support Managers to complete appraisals and assist with performance management issues 

  • Issue contracts of employment

  • Ensure employee training requirements are well managed and monitored 

  • Attend and/ or report to HR sub committee

  • Handling any disciplinary processes and formal grievances

  • Ensure all confidential files are kept up to date and stored appropriately 

  • Ensure induction procedures are followed and review regularly 

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have relevant experience in an HR role, with an understanding of the HR function of a business, deliver a professional and efficient HR advisory service to managers and employees in a timely and professional manner. Have a positive, can-do attitude with a proactive approach to work and a willingness to learn.

Adult Supported Placement Bank Staff

 

To work with Adults with Learning Disabilities in our Adult Supported Placements programme

 

Salary: £12.15p/h

Role

Heeley City Farm are looking for bank to cover staff sickness and holidays. We work with adults from 18 to 65 who come to the farm as part of Adult Supported Placements attending throughout the year except bank holidays and the Christmas holidays.

 

Working alongside the ASP Coordinators in the ASP (Adult Supported Placements department), the successful candidate or candidates will support in delivering fun, creative, and engaging activities to a range of adults with learning disabilities. Some of the activities will be based outside and often around animals so the successful candidate or candidates will be comfortable being outside in all weathers and with working with people with a range of different abilities and support needs needs. Experience in support work is essential and any of the following areas would be a bonus: gardening, arts and crafts, animal care, woodwork, cooking, sport.

 

Hours/Days

We deliver placements Monday-Saturday between 9am and 4.30pm.

This role is for a zero-hour casual role.

 

Responsibilities and Duties 

Candidates will work alongside another staff member delivering engaging activities in animal care, gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, woodwork, sport and drumming (depending on what activity cover is needed).

 

Safeguarding

Adult Supported Placement Co-ordinator

 

To work with younger adults with Learning Disabilities in our Supported Placements Service

 

Salary: £12.25p/h

Hours: 7.5 per week Saturdays

 

Role

The role is to support younger adults with learning disabilities (18 to 30) to take part in animal care activities. 

We are looking for an experienced support worker who is comfortable around both farm and small animals (additional animal training will be given by our experienced staff), you will need to be physically fit as this is a hands-on role leading by example and happy to work outdoors in all weathers. 

Placements also give the younger adults the opportunity to develop social and personal skills, increased self-confidence, assertiveness, making choices, mixing with others, team work, learning independent living skills and being safe and ‘street smart'. By working outside and doing physical work placements can also benefit and improve health and fitness, develop mobility and dexterity. 

Hours/Days

 

Saturdays 9am and 5pm with half an hour unpaid lunch. We may sometimes require cover during weekdays to cover staff holidays so may be able to offer additional hours

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 Feeding, watering, mucking out, putting the animals in/ out of their fields and pens, grooming and any additional needs of the animals. The role will also include delivering additional activities in the day such as arts and crafts, cooking, forest schools, site maintenance (or any innovative ideas or skills you may have) to keep the day interesting and to give variety. The post will also involve working with members of the public who are visiting the site giving information about the farm and animals and keeping the site safe for all the visitors and service users

Outdoor Skills Co-Ordinator

Job Description:

To co-ordinate and deliver volunteer sessions and lessons with learners, aged 13+ in a range of outdoor skills and activities, including site maintenance, horticulture, and conservation, as well as supporting the placement of volunteers of all ages in appropriate placements across the farm. To work with the site maintenance team to manage the farm site, gardens and garden centre and create a welcoming and suitable attraction and site for farm users.

This role will require excellent communication and organisation skills as well as a willingness to work outside in all weathers.

 

Salary: Band 3 - £12.25p/h

Hours of work: 2 days a week – 15hoursFixed term 12month contract with a review after this period. Responsible to: ELS line manager          

Location: Heeley City Farm

 

Purpose of job:

To plan and deliver a range of different sessions in outdoor skills including horticulture, conservation and site maintenance. To assist with maintaining the site with groups of volunteers. To support volunteer placements at the farm.

                                       

Generic tasks:

You will be required to deliver effective sessions around a range of different subjects including site maintenance, horticulture and conservation on our city farm site and garden centre. You will work with a range of learners and volunteers to deliver effective sessions.

Green Social Prescribing Worker

We are looking for someone to work one day a week deliver a weekly volunteering session based around gardening and conservation.

Hours of work: 1 fixed day a week (Tuesday, but this could be flexible) – 7.5 hours per week. Delivery of session is 10-3pm – there could be some flexibility of hours around this time. 6-month fixed term contract (for period of funding) with possibility to extend.

Purpose of job:

To plan and deliver sessions based around horticulture and conservation. To enrol and welcome groups of volunteers referred through social prescribing and other channels to work alongside you on projects around the farm. To understand the barriers that people may face in accessing nature and the positive impact of green spaces on mental health. To create a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Generic tasks:

You will be required to deliver inclusive and welcoming sessions based around horticulture and conservation on our city farm site and garden centre. As well planning and delivering volunteer sessions, you will also be responsible for bringing in new participants and supporting them to be able to attend, as well as monitoring their progress and outcomes.

Specific tasks:

- Planning and delivering horticulture and conservation voluntary sessions to adult participants

- Being a point of contact for new participants to access the volunteer sessions

- Creating a welcome and inclusive environment for participants to feel comfortable to attend

- Carrying out regular monitoring

- Writing reports at regular intervals

- Working with and liaising with farm staff to deliver sessions

 

Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have relevant experience in working with volunteers and working with mental health and leading sessions. They will also have a good working knowledge of food growing and horticulture. An understanding of social prescribing would be desirable.

Heeley City Farm are looking for bank or cover staff to cover sickness and holiday. There may be opportunities to provide longer term support to students. We work with children aged 7-18 years during school hours who come to the farm as part of their education.

 

Working alongside teachers in the ELS (Education, Learning and Skills) department, the successful candidate or candidates will support students in delivering fun, creative, and engaging activities to a range of young people with SEND. Most of the activities will be based outside and often around animals so the successful candidate or candidates will be comfortable being outside in all weathers and with working with young people with a range of different abilities and needs. Experience in any of the following areas would be a bonus: gardening and horticulture, forest schools, arts. animal care, teaching, support work, classroom assistant, working with vulnerable young people.

 

Hours/Days

We deliver alternative provision Monday-Thursday during term time between 9am and 3pm.

We may sometimes require cover during weekends and school holidays on our youth work sessions.

This role is for a zero-hour casual role.

Role

 

 

 

Heeley City Farm are looking for sessional staff to deliver on school day visits for primary and secondary schools. Sessions are based around animal tours and handling, gardening and composting. Full training will be given before any delivery. There may also be some work in developing and delivering new sessions and developing the school visits programme.

 

We currently deliver sessions to school groups around feeding animals, animal handling and grooming, seed planting, composting and pollination. Although experience in these areas would be a bonus, we can offer training in these sessions. However, enthusiasm and confidence in working with, and managing, groups of children independently will be essential.

Hours/Days

 

 

School visits can happen Monday to Friday, with no fixed day or guarantee of hours. We usually deliver a morning block (10-12pm) and/or an afternoon block (1-3pm).

 

This role is for zero hours, casual role.

Responsibilities and Duties

 

Candidates will work with groups of 10-20 children delivering pre prepared, planned and resourced sessions, usually outside and in the areas of animals, gardening, horticulture or the environment.

There may be some scope for work to develop the programme and create new sessions and resources, as well as work liaising with schools for the right candidate.

This role would suit someone with experience working in schools or in outdoor education or with an interest or passion in this area.
