craft groupThe Over 50’s Craft Group at Heeley City Farm sold their crafts and cards at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday December 12th 2009. The group meet every Friday to learn new skills and this year they have been working with a lot of recycled materials crocheting beautiful handbags and jewellery out of plastic carrier bags and creating vintage Christmas tree decorations out of lovely fabrics and felts. Sally Rodgers who helps with the group said,”The ladies have made some gorgeous felt ginger bread men and beautiful robins that will be treasured for generations to come. They’ve all had a great time making them and I’m sure they will be very popular at the Christmas Fayre, we’ve even made a special one for Father Christmas!”

Heeley City Farm’s Christmas Fayre is from 11am – 3pm on Saturday 12th December. Father Christmas will be listening to Christmas wishes in his grotto and there will be entertainment by Boggarts Breakfast dance troop, festive food and drink, crafts and stalls and activities for children. There is still time to rent a Christmas tree and there will be a selection of beautiful door wreaths lovingly hand-made by the Supported Placements Group. Entrance to the Christmas Fayre is free but donations to the charity are welcome.

For further information contact Sally Rodgers; on 0114 303 9981 ext 4.
